Snow: This time it's personal

After going most of the winter without any snow, we're definitely making up for it today. It started last night around 10pm and hasn't stopped. In that time we've had snow, sleet, freezing rain, and now snow again, all with very cold temperatures and wind gusts up to 35 mph. It's so bad that the Culinary closed today -- they haven't closed for snow in over ten years.

Anyway, I took the long attachment off our old vacuum cleaner, stretched it all the way out, and marked it off in one-inch increments. I then opened the back door, braved the elements, and stuck it all the way down to the ground on our back porch. The level here is probably a bit skewed due to snow blowing off the roof all day, but it's not far off. In case you can't tell, we're at roughly a foot as of 3:30pm, and it's not supposed to let up until 6am tomorrow.

And the close up...

We tried to take the boys out to play in the snow this morning, but the outing was short-lived -- between the snow and the wind, it was just too cold. I pulled Luke on the sled for about a minute while Carrie held on to Noah for dear life, and then we hurried back inside to warm up. Maybe tomorrow...
